Asman and Falwell, two sorry excuses for human beings...

Media Matters - Falwell attacked Lynn as "about as reverend as an oak tree"; guest host Asman asked permission to "repeat it at some point"

How ignorant of people with ideals like Falwell. The 'holier than thou' attitude, and the intolerance of anyone with differing views.

Now on top of that, Asman and Fox News gushing all over him without question.
It makes me sad to know that there are more like him out there, and even sadder that they actually BELIEVE and agree with him.

Another thing I don't really understand is why news outlets continue to "report" what he says. The only reason I can come up with for that is not the content of his comments, but the sensationalistic reputation he has. In other words, entertainment value (the whole gawking at a car wreck thing...).

Will it be a never ending struggle of the rational and tolerant against people like Falwell?
Maybe so, but if the people who CONTROL the news would become more concerned with the INTEGRITY of the CONTENT of their news than satisfying their shareholders and their (editors-producers-etc.) personal biases, this might become a better world for it.

I'm totally against censorship, but they don't HAVE to choose to report every inane thing Falwell says. He's proven himself time and time again to be a self-righteous, intolerant blowhard.

Finally, as far as I'm concerned, any religious leader who claims that THEIR religion is the 'one and only', and attempts to discredit other people's beliefs is BAD.

See, religion in and of itself is inherently good. The problems start when bad/misguided people corrupt and co-opt them with their own failings and political ambitions. Now I don't speak for anyone but myself, but I would think any true Christian would be appauled by this man's statements.
